Lauren Hollinger realized it was “too soon” after her dad’s death to continue on The Bachelor. She and her sister Alison joined the dating show together, but the wedding date was unbearable for Lauren.

During the wedding-themed group date on week two of The Bachelor, Lauren revealed her dad recently passed away. “I think it’s just a little soon,” she said. “I’m still in that grieving process.”

The Bachelor star Lauren grieves dad

Lauren is “still grieving” her father, Mark, who died seven months prior to filming. “Putting on a wedding dress and being at that venue hit me a lot that my dad’s not going to be there for my wedding,” she said.

She later told Joey: “It made me think about walking down the aisle and the father-daughter dance. Grief’s not linear, it comes in waves.” Mark T. Hollinger died on February 18, 2023, at 57 years old.

Hollinger’s obituary states he was a CFO for over 34 years and devoted twenty years to the Camden Fire Company in his spare time. “There was never a more loving and caring son, friend, and father,” it reads.

Lauren left The Bachelor in tears

Lauren decided to leave The Bachelor. She grew frustrated during the wedding date, especially as she didn’t like her cake, but her departure meant she was leaving her sister Allison behind.

Joey called Allison’s name second-to-last at the rose ceremony, a demotion from being called first last week. In an interview with producers, she was seen crying, and said: “Lauren was my support system.”

“I can tell you’ve gotten to a point where you’re over it,” Joey told her after Lauren announced she’s going home. “Maybe the setting just wasn’t the best way for us to get to know each other.”

She calls father her ‘superman’

Lauren’s dad died after a battle with cancer. She shares a tribute to Mark on her Instagram page, where she and Allison share a picture with him. She wrote: “You will always be our superman.”

Allison wrote over a picture of him after his death, “Still doesn’t feel real. I’ll miss you every day dad,” while Lauren shared childhood snaps, saying she’ll “miss him forever.”

The sisters done a drinks toast at his gravestone on his heavenly birthday, while Lauren said he’s “sitting outside on the water somewhere sipping on an LIIT (long island iced tea).”
